Amongst 70,000 hopefuls Jennifer was a stand out choice as a top 12 competitor, she wowed the idol judges and viewers spanning across the globe with great performances of classic songs by icons such as Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston. As judge Randy Jacksons Wild Card pick, Jennifers journey with American Idol accelerated her to the 7th position. Viewer response to her early departure was quite controversial and unprecedented and sent shockwaves across America as well as unleashing a torrent of criticism about the idol voting process.

During her time in the "Top 12", she received high praise from some of musics biggest industry legends. Sir Elton John was quoted as saying she was "the best of the lot". The deep, rich, powerful, classic texture of Jennifer Hudsons voice continues to touch everyone that hears her sing. In response to hearing Jennifers incredible range during the competition preparation for his very own classic, "Weekend In New England" Barry Manilow stated "My catalog of songs requires that you have range, you cannot do what Jennifer is doing, she takes it to a whole other level.". Movie director Quentin Tarentino was also enchanted by hearing Jennifers powerful rendition of the Whitney Houston song "I Have Nothing" from the mega hit soundtrack "The Bodyguard". Quentin states "Hudson takes on Houston and WINS!" Although Jennifer did not win the idol crown she left an indelible mark on the music industry and viewers across the world.

Ahem. Julie Clark handles vocal and acoustic duties, as well as taking on most of the songwriting, while her other half Bennett Holland takes on keys and vocals. The dude`s been there and done the lot. Justin Lewis Orchestra, Richard Hawley, Frank White - the list goes on. He also performed in Groove Armada side project Weekend Players with bassist Darren Campbell - who himself tours regularly with Errol Brown. Richard Storer completes the impressive line - up by giving the skins the beating they deserve.

It`s a relatively new project but they`ve already trod the boards at Runaway Girl, The Boardway and Dulo.
Tamyra Gray became one of the ten finalists on the first season of American Idol, eventually finishing fourth. Her performance of the Burt Bacharach classic "A House is Not a Home" was described by Judge Simon Cowell as "one of the best performances on television" that he had ever seen.

After American Idol's debut season, Gray continued to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. She landed the recurring role of Aisha Clemens on Boston Public, appearing in seven episodes in 2003, during which she also showcased her singing abilities, most famously, covering Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". She has had guest roles on episodes of Half and Half , Las Vegas, Tru Calling, What I Like About You and All Of Us. With other American Idol alumni, she appeared on The Tyra Banks Show in 2006.

Gray married Color Me Badd singer Sam Watters (whom she worked with on her album, The Dreamer) on September 2, 2006, in Capri, Italy. About 45 guests were in attendance, including her then manager, Lisa Braude. Gray's photographer sold the wedding photos to American press, and the low-key relationship soon became public after People Magazine broke the word.

Mandisa was eliminated from American Idol on April 5, 2006, in the Top 9, having never previously been in the Bottom 3 (she was there with Paris Bennett and Elliott Yamin, neither of whom had been in the bottom 3 either).

Mandisa revealed that, when the first group of Taylor Hicks, Kellie Pickler and Chris Daughtry was sent back to safety, and Mandisa, Elliott and Paris were on the stage on one side and the other group of Ace Young, Katharine McPhee and Bucky Covington on the other side, she told Paris and Elliott that it was most likely their own group in the bottom three, as she remembered how the same thing had happened in American Idol (Season 3), when the three divas landed in the bottom three, and was sure that it would probably be a "shocker" like that one as Ace, Katharine and Bucky had all been in the bottom three earlier. She, like most eliminated contestants, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno one day later.

After he was kicked off of Idol, he turned down Fuel's standing offer of replacing their lead singer and set off on his own career, signing with Idol's 19 Entertainment group and RCA Records in July of 2006. By the time the album materialized in November, it had turned into a project by a band called DAUGHTRY (spelled all in capital letters) -- the band featured guitarist Jeremy Brady, guitarist Josh Steely, bassist Josh Paul, and drummer Joey Barnes, but they did not play as a band on the finished album; Brady was replaced after the album's release by Brian Craddock -- a matter of semantics overlooked by most, especially in light of the album's blockbuster success.

Like many hotly anticipated albums of the SoundScan era, it debuted high on the charts but it didn't drop down quickly: it stayed in the Top Ten for month after month, as did the first single, "It's Not Over." This meant that DAUGHTRY was not only a huge hit by Idol standards, it was one of the few hit rock albums -- period -- in 2006. DAUGHTRY didn't debut at number one, but it climbed to the top in January 2007 (granted, it only sold about 65,000 copies the week it was at number one, but that's still an impressive feat) and stayed in the Top Ten well into the new year, as did the single "It's Not Over." By February, it was evident that his popularity eclipsed those of his American Idol rivals Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

To truly know Malcolm Williams and understand his passion for gospel music, one must revisit his childhood, for this is when Williams was first introduced to the microcosm of music. At the age of six, Malcolm was appointed the director of the junior choir at the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in Waukegan Illinois. Little did Malcolm know that this move would commence a musical career that now includes multiple albums, winning major corporate sponsored choir competitions, and more than 20 of his exclusive compositions appearing on 10 new albums in the last 15 months alone. Recordings by gospel music notables Dorinda Clark-Cole, Dottie Peoples, The Gospel Music Workshop of America Mass Choir, Rodnie Bryant, Angela Spivey as well as, LJ Reynolds of the legendary R&B group, The Dramatics all feature creative works by Malcolm Williams.
